This application example shows a 3G/HD-SDI video signal transmitted over optical fiber
using a compact SDI-to-fiber transmitter and receiver pair.
On the transmit side, a 3G/HD-SDI camera or video source connects to the
AN-SDI-1V-ML transmitter via coaxial cable.
The signal is then carried over single-mode or multimode fiber to the remote receiver unit.
On the receive side, the fiber signal is converted back to 3G/HD-SDI and delivered
to an SDI monitor, DVR, or recording system.
This architecture is ideal for studio installations, surveillance systems,
and field deployments requiring stable, long-distance SDI transport.

Description
The AD-net AN-SDI-1V-ML is a professional-grade
3G/HD-SDI to fiber optical converter designed for reliable,
uncompressed video transmission in broadcast, studio, and industrial environments.
Built with advanced digital coding technology, it delivers stable, distortion-free
SDI signals over long distances using optical fiber.
Supporting data rates from 270 Mbps to 2.97 Gbps, the converter
automatically detects SD, HD, and 3G-SDI input formats, including
1080p@60Hz. It is fully compliant with
SMPTE 424M, 292M, 344M, 259M standards and is also compatible with
DVB-ASI, making it suitable for a wide range of professional video
transport applications.
Using single-mode fiber, the AN-SDI-1V-ML supports transmission distances of up to
20 km without signal degradation. Its compact,
SFP-style form factor makes it ideal for installations where space
is limited, such as camera rigs, studio racks, control rooms, and mobile field setups.
The unit operates on a 5V USB Type-C power input, allowing flexible
powering from laptops, power banks, monitors, or standard USB adapters—eliminating
the need for bulky external power supplies.
Designed for reliability in demanding environments, the converter includes
three-level lightning protection compliant with
ITU-T K.21 standards, along with SDI status LEDs
for quick visual diagnostics of power, signal presence, and link status.
With multiple mounting options available—including desktop, DIN-rail, and wall mount
configurations—the AN-SDI-1V-ML offers maximum deployment flexibility for professional
video transmission systems.
FAQ
Does this converter work with HDMI or IP cameras?
No, this unit is designed specifically for HD-SDI video signals. It will not work with HDMI or IP-based cameras or NVR systems.
Can I use both singlemode and multimode fiber?
Yes! This device supports both SMF (up to 20km) and MMF (up to 1km). Just ensure both transmitter and receiver use matching SFPs and fiber types – contact us for distances higher than 20km we have customized versions for that.
What power options I have for it?
You can power it up using standard USB Type C – and you get power adapter in set as well.
Is this an SFP module I plug into a switch?
No — this is a full HD-SDI fiber modem in a compact housing. It connects via standard SFP transceivers and fiber cable but is powered separately.
Can I mount this on a wall or inside an equipment rack?
