Video over Fiber is booming for security applications

Now-a-days, cameras are fitted in almost every part of the community including classrooms, hospitals, party venues, offices, theatres and shopping malls. The necessity to install cameras arises from the increased number criminal activities in today’s society. Cameras installed in college corridors are helpful in identifying ragging problems and malicious students. They also help in noticing eve-teasers and consequently punishing them.

Fiber cables are the basis of the industry of fiber optics. Video over fiber is booming for security applications as these cables are able to carry information through a mode of light transmission and are used for plugging equipment into the other. There are various uses of fiber cables in almost all types of industries including medical engineering, LAN applications, mechanical engineering, telephone lines, cable TV networks and videos. These cables are extensively used in the security applications as they are able to offer almost accurate signal transfer system that is totally free of distortions. Due to such cables, the video as well as audio transmission is completely free of distortions and the videos are crystal clear. That is why, when something abnormal or unwanted happens in a hospital, theatre or any other public area, videos over fiber cables help in detecting the criminal hand within minutes. Some cases of sexual abuse and loot took place recently in which the criminals were caught red-handed through CCTV videos. One video also became very popular recently in which a woman was seen dying on the hospital floor and the staff members were seen looking at her but not taking any action to help her. Consequently, the staff members were identified in the video and were suspended immediately for neglecting the well being of the patient.

The fiber cables are available with respective connectors and can prove to be easy and ideal replacement of the copper cables. These cables come in duplex, single, simplex and multi modes with ST SC, SC SC and ST ST connectors. Single mode cables are used for long-distance capacities of voice applications such as telephone transmission and gigabit networking. Multimode cables are utilized in the computer industry that is standard for applications of data such as wide area network and local area network. Multi mode cables are available with MU, SC, ST, FC, and LC connectors and have polished ferrules of ceramic for increased durability and better precision. The duplex fiber cables of LC and SC are available with clip for maintaining polarity.

Video over fiber have unlimited bandwidth and that too at higher speeds over the longer distances. These cables are ideal for the connections between hubs, fiber panels, media converters, routers and switches. These provide increased bandwidth and higher speeds, as compared to the conventional twisted copper cables. These cables are also compatible with all of the standardized fiber optic equipments as well as connectors. Ceramic connectors in these cables ensure higher reliability and lower signal loss with complete immunity to electromagnetic and electrical interference. Fiber cables are most opted solutions these days for the industries of broadcasting and networking.

Testimonials

Lomoveishiy – Finland

I needed those to connect my PC on the third floor to have internet access in that room, and ISP installed their modem on the first floor only. After dropping fiber patch cables, plugged in all cables into these media converters at both sides, and link came up instantly. Was much easier than I thought!

Raymond – USA

Great experience – units worked straight out of the box – just needed plug in cables and we were done. I also like the possibility to enable jumbo frames, while we do not have a need for this feature at the current moment it’s great to have this option.
